Work continues on the Sunriver Community’s most significant project in recent years, the SHARC (Sunriver Homeowners Aquatics and Recreation Center). This photo, taken several weeks ago from high above the SHARC, shows clearly how this 22 acre site is being filled with fun new facilities that Sunriver owners and Sunriver Resort visitors will enjoy year round.
Now, I am not exactly what you would call an avid skier. I actually learned to ski this year during Mt. Bachelor’s Ski and Ride in Five Program. I learned to ski in five lessons and then skied twice a week for the rest of the season…it really is great to live in Central Oregon and work at Sunriver Resort. When I found out Mt. Bachelor was opening for the Fourth of July weekend, I jumped at the chance to ski in July.
The serve is one of the most difficult shots in all of tennis. At the same time it is one of the most important shots in all of tennis. Most players focus on simply getting the point started, which is obviously not a bad idea, but what if we could make our serve better than everyone we played? The biggest misconception is that you hit down on the ball to make it go in the box. In reality you actually want to make an aggressive move up to the ball, therefore actually hitting the ball up off of your strings.
Sunriver is a runner’s paradise. With thirty plus miles of paved bike paths, you can run for days on pavement. These bike paths make races like the Pacific Crest, Sunriver Marathon for a Cause, and the annual 4th of July Fun Run a breeze. But there is more to run on than just the pavement. Right outside of Sunriver proper there are miles of single-track and dirt trails perfect for a good morning trail run. And this morning, I decided to give some of that dirt a try.
Every week we take a group of teens on an Art Escape around Sunriver Resort in Central Oregon. Armed with a digital camera, we head out on bikes in search of inspiration that we can later use to create a work of art. Once our camera is loaded with great shots, we head back to the Outpost, Sunriver Resort's art center, and choose our medium. While the choices of mediums are glass, ceramics or acrylics, glass is by far the most popular choice!
