Sunriver Resort Attends Oregon Coast Culinary Festival
As a part of our continuing education in the world of wine and the culinary arts, three bartenders from Sunriver Resort traveled to Newport, Oregon to attend the 35th annual Seafood & Wine Festival last month.
Caren Torrey, Carrie Trueman and Laura Netcher made the 5 hour drive from Bend to Newport to enjoy the many quality wines from Pacific Northwest vineyards, the tasty seafood dishes of the Oregon coast, and with the camaraderie of the festival.
According to the ladies, highlights of the trip were the wines of Adelsheim, Hip Chicks and Sweet Cheeks, the rich cheeses from Rogue Creamery and the Lobster Quesadillas offered by a local restuarant. Laura was especially blown away by the Chateau Bianca Sparkling wine, which she suggests is a hidden gem in the Oregon wine scene. The ladies finished the evening at the Rogue Ales Public House, sampling some of the 35 brews on tap.
The three bartenders came back from the festival awed by the Oregon bounty that continues to satisfy our culinary tourists. The experience left them excited for the 2012 Ghost Tree Invitational, an annual golf and culinary event held in August at Sunriver Resort.
