A recent tweet from @ylatan asked the twittershpere: “Are April and May good months for a weekend in Sunriver/Bend? I need to plan something for the fam.”
Of course we are a bit biased and will always say that “Any time of the year is a great time to visit Sunriver!” Which is certainly true. The beauty is exceptional year round and you can always find something to do in Central Oregon, 12 months out of the year. Here are a few facts about the area in April/May that may help with your decision:
1) Average daytime highs in April are in the upper 50’s. In May, mid 60’s
2) Average precipitation for both months combined is under 2 inches. In early April you could see a couple of snow flurries, but generally it will not stick to the ground for very long (this picture was taken from the Sunriver Resort lodge on April 8 of last year).
3) Mt. Bachelor is open thru mid May. So you can play golf/ride bikes in Sunriver in the morning and then head up to the mountain to ski 20 minutes away. Photo below was taken on May 8 last year.
4) If you're bringing kids, important to be aware that our Ft. Funnigan kids program is still on a limited schedule during those months (We’ll have those hours/days posted to the website soon).
Hope that helps, @ylatan, and anyone else considering a trip to Sunriver in the spring.
