Rachael Scdoris: Central Oregon Para-Cycling Champion
Central Oregon’s, Rachael Scdoris is not only a local star, she’s a national athlete. She is a professional sled dog racer from Bend, Oregon and Iditarod competitor and a member of the US Para-Cycling Team. She is also visually impaired.
In her tandem cycling career, Rachael races against other Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) women on a tandem bicycle, where a sighted “pilot” (the person on the front of the bike), handles the steering responsibilities. Rachael, being on the back of the bike, is called a “stoker”. Together they have won Gold at the World Championships in 2011. Together with Lisa, she’s won two national Para-Cycling Championships and they are now the current reigning National Champions in the Road Race event.
Rachael and Lisa’s focus is to race in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Sunriver Resort is proud to sponsor this exceptional team, since 2013, supporting the purchase of their bikes, parts, and travel. On to Rio Rachael and Lisa - your supporters at Sunriver Resort can’t wait to cheer you on.
