Sunriver is surrounded by millions of acres of coniferous forests, so it's probably not the first place people think of when considering fall foliage. But if you know where to look the Fall colors in Central Oregon can be almost as spectacular as any dense deciduous area.
The aspen groves lining the Deschutes River and dotting the Cascade foothills turn bright yellow, usually in early October. The colors from theses trees are amplified by the thick green ponderosa forests that surround them making for a dramatic Autumn scene. Just as beautiful are the changing colors of the river grasses that line the Deschutes for miles (shown below).
