As the Activities Manager here at Sunriver Resort, I have been helping to put on the Annual Egg Hunt for the last four years. My favorite Easter Egg Hunt, so far, happened in early April in 2010.
“Why?” you ask. Because it was in the snow! Yes, the snow! We had a late winter and were hoping that the snow would melt off. Of course, Mother Nature resisted bringing out the sun and the snow stayed right where it was. We were debating whether or not to move the egg hunt inside, but decided that “hiding” eggs in a banquet room would be far less fun. Instead, we hid pastel and bright colored Easter eggs all over the snowy lawns surrounding the Main Lodge.
If you asked Rob Macgowan, Sunriver Resort Director of Recreation, he would tell you that his favorite part of any of his 17 egg hunts is watching the youngest age group pick up eggs. They have a knack for bending over to pick up the perfect egg and letting the rest of the eggs in their basket fall to the ground, thus supplying them with an endless supply of eggs to pick up. They are encouraged by the giggles of their parents, the flash of the cameras, and the hope of getting an extra tasty treat in their plastic egg.
So what are we eggcited for this year? Helping the Easter Bunny stuff over 2,000 Easter Eggs so that 100 kids from newborns to 12 year olds in their Sunday best search the lawns around the Lodge for a basketful of treats! Afterward, we will treat ourselves to the special Sunriver Meadows Easter Brunch in the lodge.
What is your favorite egg hunt memory?
