Family Skiing in Central Oregon
Old Man Winter is back with a vengeance at Mt Bachelor and he has blessed us once again with amazing ski conditions near Sunriver Resort. The snow is deep and light due to the ideal low water content snow that recently blanketed the mountain and Central Oregon a short time ago. My eight-year-old son and I recently had one of the best ski experiences of our lives. As the photos below illustrate, the snow was ideal for “powder hounds” of all ages.
We are looking forward to some 360 degree skiing off the summit of Mt Bachelor as the storms have moved on and we now can enjoy some “bluebird” days.
If you have not skied off the summit to the backside of the mountain, be sure to make it a priority this winter. The views from the summit are incredible and carving above the tree line and through the trees on the backside gives you a backcountry experience without having to hike to earn your turns. Check out this short helmet cam video taken in December to whet your appetite for some family Spring Break skiing with your “little rippers”.
Mt Bachelor offers runs to suite all experience levels. Whether you are looking to drop off a cornice into a double black diamond bowl, carving through picturesque tree runs, or enjoying a mellow rolling groomed run it’s all just a high speed quad lift ride away.
