Every woman was greeted at the door with a flower for Mother’s Day Brunch at Sunriver Resort this past Sunday. Long-stemmed white, pink and red roses brought smiles to the faces of the many grandmothers, mothers, daughters and granddaughters attending the brunch.
The room was filled with the sounds of smooth jazz from local flutist and saxophonist, Dan Leonardo. The buffet was dressed in white and teal with beautiful matching flower arrangements, and highlighted by an ice-carved swan. The natural light coming from the large windows in the main lodge illuminated the swan and lit up the room in a way none of us expected. Though there was a chill in the air, mixed blue skies made for a great view from the restaurant of the meadow and the mountains, and a small herd of elk grazing near the golf course.
Executive Chef Fabrice Beaudoin and his Culinary Team crafted a fantastic menu, and Meadows Restaurant Manager, Jason Ludlow, walked the room and chatted with guests, all the while ensuring a high level of service for everyone. The 2011 menu included omelets made to order, blintzes flambéed with marionberries, roasted prime rib, and even hand-rolled sushi. The chocolate lave cake at the dessert station was a big hit, as well as the Domaine Ste. Michelle sparkling wine and Mimosas. The children had their very own buffet station, displayed on a knee-high table, and enjoyed helping themselves to the many kid-friendly options.
Happy Mother’s Day everyone, and please don’t forget about dad on Father’s Day. His brunch is coming up in June!
