Monday morning was the big day! The $500,000 reconstruction project on 18 Crosswater greens began on Hole #1 with sod being removed along with enough thatchy material to get down to the original top mix surface (approx.3-4 inches).
After this material is removed, the surface is prepped for laying the sod. Pre-plant fertilizer is applied prior to laying down the sod. After the sod is in place, rolling, topdressing, fertilizing, irrigating, and mowing take place until there is a smooth surface. This will take place right up until winter sets in and then again in the spring until we have acceptable putting surfaces.

The T1 bentgrass sod comes from the Boise area. This sod is cut and immediately shipped in refrigerated trucks to our site and then immediately placed on the green. The removal of the sod and laying of the new sod needs to be coordinated so that the sod is not sitting for too long. There will be a crew that removes the old sod and a crew that lays the new sod.
Crosswater at Sunriver Resort is scheduled to reopen in the spring of 2012 for all members and guests.
