Have you ever wondered what happens to the soap you leave behind in your guest room? Or what about that small bottle of shampoo? Does it really just go into the trash? In the United States alone, over 1.5 million bars of gently used soap are thrown away every day. At the same time, it is estimated that 9,000 children a day die from diseases that can be prevented by simple hand washing. The Housekeeping department at Sunriver Resort was not ok with these statistics and decided to do something about it.
By becoming a partner of Clean the World, an organization that distributes recycled soap products to impovershied countries worldwide and domestic homeless shelters, Sunriver Resort is helping to prevent at least some of these needless deaths. Currently Clean the World is focusing the majority of its efforts on the Cholera outbreak in Haiti.
In just three months (April, May and June) of this year Sunriver Resort donated 764.7 lbs of soap (4,078 bars) and 753 lbs of bottled amenities.

Well done Sunriver House Keeping. This is an amazing way to give back. I am proud to know that you are helping others.
