Your Summer Destination is Now Open: Dive Into Sunriver Resort’s Newest Dining and Swimming Hotspots this Memorial Day Weekend

“Our team is excited to unveil these new venues in time for Memorial Day weekend, which has always marked the kick-off to the summer season here at Sunriver,” said Tom O’Shea, the managing director at Sunriver Resort. “This comprehensive property transformation adds to our already rich selection of amenities, and will make vacations, family reunions, corporate events and weekend getaways that much more memorable for new and returning guests.”
A cornerstone of the Memorial Day weekend opening is The Cove, featuring a kid's discovery area, lakeside nature trails, private cabanas, and a new bar and café called The Spotted Frog. The poolside eatery is the energetic hub of the new facility, with crave-able sandwiches, wraps and salads on the menu, along with refreshing ice cream treats for kids and boozy milkshakes and slushies for adults. The restaurant is named in honor of the Oregon spotted frog, who has a protected habitat in the nature discovery area at The Cove.
Additionally, Sunriver Resort is opening three new restaurant concepts in the main lodge, all of which feature locally-inspired ingredients and menus, and pay tribute the region’s exciting food and beverage scene:

  • Carson’s American Kitchen serves up classic American fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner that highlights casual and delicious flavors and dishes of the Pacific Northwest. Items on the breakfast menu are named after natural landmarks that surround the Resort, such as the Twin Lakes or Mirror Pond benedicts. Lunch offers an array of satisfying appetizers, garden dishes and hearty sandwiches, while dinner highlights simple, yet modern entrees from the land and sea, including grilled steaks, local seafood and must-have pastas and seasonal specials. The restaurant also features a robust kids menu with build-your-own pizzas, grilled salmon and steak, and other fan favorites, like grilled cheese and hamburger sliders. For special occasions or everyday celebrations, full birthday cakes and apple pie can be ordered as dessert for the table.

  • Twisted River Tavern puts a fun spin on the pub experience, offering incredible views, great food and drinks as a “guide to getting twisted,” and a perfect place to let loose at Sunriver Resort. A full selection of local wines and cocktails is rounded out by an expansive beer list, featuring regional beers and Bend’s own brews. Chef Travis Taylor puts an unexpected twist on the menu of tavern bites, focusing on sharable items, contemporary beer-time classics like burgers and brats, and build-your-own ice cream sandwiches for dessert. From lunchtime to happy hour to late nights with live music (dancing encouraged), there’s always something happening at Twisted River Tavern.

  • The Living Room is the relaxed, central gathering spot for a bite and a drink between, or after, a full day of activities at Sunriver Resort. Whether waiting for a seat at one of the Resort’s popular restaurants, catching up on email or playing a parlor game with friends, The Living Room is the place on property to cozy up next to the fireplace and unwind. The menu celebrates the best of artisanal Central Oregon and is divided between smaller bites served in mason jars, like house-made caramel corn and Newport shrimp ceviche; charcuterie boards of local cured meats, fried oysters and grilled vegetables; and a dessert section to give a sweet finish to the day. The curated drink list pairs well with the selection of sweet, spicy and savory noshes, focusing on Northwest wines on tap, local bottled beers and an array of ports and cognacs for after-dinner drinks.

“We are extremely excited to introduce the transformation of our new food and beverage offerings,” continued O’Shea, “and we look forward to welcoming everyone to experience them first hand.”
