Wonderland Express Toy Drive Benefits Local Youth

SUNRIVER, Ore., Dec. 7, 2006 ... Agencies assisting children require support on a year round basis, particularly during the holidays. In the spirit of the season, Sunriver Resort is coordinating a community-wide Toy Drive and fundraising efforts in support of the Family Access Network (FAN) and a holiday program called Wonderland Express.
Several community businesses are hosting "Giving Trees" with tags attached to branches with the age (2 to 16 years) and gender of a child in need. Select a tag, purchase a gift, and deliver it unwrapped to one of these locations:
Sunriver Realty Offices in Bend and Sunriver
Bank of the Cascades in Sunriver
Sages Springs Club and Spa at Sunriver Resort
Wonderland Express Giving Tree and Toy Drive runs through December 16.
"The Wonderland Express Toy Drive plays an essential role in providing toys for kids who typically don't receive gifts during the holidays," said Wonderland Express committee member Ben Perle. "With the community's support we are able to provide a holiday celebration for over 350 vulnerable children and families."
The children and their families, randomly identified through FAN, have been invited to attend a magical holiday party set for Sunday, December 17, 2006. Hosted at Sunriver Resort, Wonderland Express will feature a visit with Santa, wrapped gifts for the children and a traditional buffet amid full holiday decorations and activities.
Donors interested in supporting FAN and Wonderland Express should call 541-593-4405 to identify what items or services are needed. Donations will be accepted through December 16, 2006. Individuals interested in volunteering to help prepare for or work the event can sign up by emailing wonderlandexpress@sunriver-resort.com.
