Sunriver Resort, United Way Gift $8200 to Local Charity
Matching Donation from Workplace Campaign to Benefit New Generations of Sunriver

For Immediate Release
March 11, 2013
(Sunriver, Ore.) — Through their annual United Way of Deschutes County Workplace Campaign, Sunriver Resort employees contributed $8200 in 2012 to support more than thirty local social service programs. One year ago during the 2012 workplace campaign kickoff, Sunriver Resort pledged to match the funds raised through this Workplace Campaign, and donate those matching funds to beloved local charity New Generations. This pledge was realized yesterday afternoon, where Sunriver Resort Managing Director Tom O’Shea presented a check for this matching donation to the New Generations Board.
“I am deeply proud of our Sunriver Resort employees and their sizable collective donation the United Way’s Workplace Campaign,” said Sunriver Resort Managing Director Tom O’Shea, “I am even more pleased to have an opportunity to donate a matching contribution New Generations, and the children who keep our community vibrant.”
Founded in 1999 and located in the Sunriver Business Park, the New Generations Early Childhood and Development Center provides pre-school and child care for the children in the Three Rivers and south Deschutes County areas. Managed by a board of seven, and run by a dedicated team of eight, the New Generations team has a combined experience of more than 100 years in Early Childhood Education. The funds that they have received from Sunriver Resort through this and other recent donations, allows them to focus on bringing art, nature, science, math, and literacy into their student’s lives.
The catalyst for this Matching Donation pledge from Sunriver Resort is the successful 2012/2013 LIVE UNITED campaign championed locally by volunteer campaign chair John Salzer, and his quest to reach $1.25 Million donated from the Central Oregon community. Since crossing the $1 Million mark, Salzer has famously has vowed to wear a LIVE UNITED t-shirt every day until the goal of $1.25 Million is reached.
This money is utilized to help support over thirty local social service programs that rely on funding from United Way to maintain programs and continue providing, at times, life-saving assistance to the large number of Deschutes County residents in need.
