Sunriver Resort Names Michael Sizemore Director of Golf

Sizemore, 30, assumes leadership responsibilities for the operations of the resort’s acclaimed Woodlands and Meadows courses, as well as the retail division of the resort. He also will work closely with Brad Myrick, club manager at Sunriver’s award-winning Crosswater course to continue the success of the overall golf division.

“Obviously, Sunriver speaks for itself as being a huge name within the industry,” said Sizemore, who started his new job June 28. “That’s what originally interested me in the position. And when I came here and interviewed, it was the people at Sunriver and Central Oregon as a whole that impressed me. The whole place just oozes with friendliness and an energy level unlike anything I have ever seen. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to surround myself with that type of enthusiasm and environment.”

Sizemore previously spent five-and-a-half years at the Resort at Red Hawk in Sparks, Nev., near Reno. He started as first assistant and spent the past three years as director of golf. He was with Red Hawk during the development phase of a private Hale Irwin-designed layout (called the Hills Course), creating a 36-hole semi-private facility with a strong membership base.

Most recently, Sizemore assisted the resort's owners development of a new PGA Village golf resort complex in Coyote Springs, south of Las Vegas.

Sizemore has been an active member in the PGA of America since 1999. The Northern California PGA Section named him Resort Merchandiser of the Year in 2003.

“We’re very excited that Michael is joining us,” said Scott Morris, general manager for Sunriver Resort. “He is very energized in making a golf course work both financially as well as with a focus on customer service.”

Sizemore and his wife Noelle have a 2-year-old daughter Elle and are expecting their second child in November. They plan to live in Bend.
