Eugene Runner Kevin Cave Wins the Sunriver Marathon for a Cause

SUNRIVER, OR –Sunriver Resort presented the Third Annual Sunriver Marathon for a Cause this weekend. This morning’s events included a half and full marathon. Over 350 runners and walkers took part in this morning’s events.

Kevin Cave of Eugene, OR won the Sunriver Marathon finishing in 2 hours 42 minutes and 14 seconds. Claire Saxton of Santa Clara, CA was the fastest female runner, with a time of 3 hours 25 minutes and 50 seconds. In the Master’s category, William Miles and Melissa Johnson were the fastest male and female runners with times of 2 hours 57 minutes and 28 seconds; and 3 hours 43 minutes 24 seconds, respectively.

David Mitchell of Tigard, OR was the fastest overall male runner for the first Half Marathon, with a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes and 9 seconds; while Misha Marie was the fastest female runner with a time of 1 hour, 34 minutes and 08 seconds. In the Master’s category, Mike Studer and Stacy Hanf were the fastest male and female runners with times of 1 hour 30 minutes and 41 seconds; and 1 hour 40 minutes 55 seconds respectively.

Net proceeds from this weekend’s events, which included a family 5K fun run/walk, a 10K run/walk, a children’s race, two half marathons, and a full marathon, and a Speedgolf event; benefitted the Oregon and Southwest Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which helps to fund more than 8,000 mammograms each year for uninsured and underinsured women in Oregon. The 4

th annual Sunriver Marathon for a Cause will take place on Labor Day weekend, August 30th and 31st

, 2014 at Sunriver Resort.
