Sunriver Resort Donates $15,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention

Marathon for a Cause Donation Supports a Successful Breast Cancer Awareness Month

(SUNRIVER, Ore.) – Sunriver Resort has presented a $15,000 donation to the Oregon and Southwest Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure from proceeds raised at the Second Annual Sunriver Marathon for a Cause.

Held on September 1 & 2, 2012, this year’s event drew more than 900 runners and walkers from 20 states, who raced together in support of the fight against breast cancer.

“We are pleased to support the Southwest Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in their efforts to provide mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women in Oregon” said Sunriver Resort managing director Tom O’Shea, “Sunriver Resort and its associates are committed to the fight against breast cancer.” 

The Oregon and Southwest Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, helps fund more than 8,000 mammograms each year for uninsured and underinsured women in Oregon. For the past 20 years, Komen Oregon has invested more than $20 million throughout Oregon and SW Washington to fund breast-cancer screening and treatment for local women.

The 3^rd annual Sunriver Marathon for a Cause will take place over Labor Day weekend August 31st- September 1, 2013 at Sunriver Resort.  This premiere Central Oregon event, held on a USATF-certified course, will include five race options: a family 5K fun run/walk, a 10K run/walk and a children’s race, a half marathon run/walk, and a Boston Qualifier marathon.
