Like the tree at Rockefeller Plaza or the beach on St. Croix, Sunriver Resort has been the scene of many a romantic engagement.
Valentine’s Day is widely considered to be the passionate closing date to the franetic “engagement season,” which begins with the warm and cozy Thanksgiving holiday, and carries through the many events of Christmas and New Year’s before ending on February 14.
According to the Sunriver Resort concierge team, who is specially trained in the fine art of engagement planning, there are three basic tenets to the perfect engagement. We share them below.
Make it personal
One of the reasons so many couples choose Sunriver Resort is because it holds special memories among them. Recreating a first date, a favorite activity, an inside joke, or a special milestone is the very best way to make an engagement feel both authentic and special.
Make it easy
Some might disagree with this theory, but the Sunriver Resort concierge team believes that simple is better. So often grooms get carried away with the (sometimes literally) “song and dance” of a proposal that it can begin to feel staged, awkward, or over-produced. Unless you are going for a youtube record, keep in mind that your end goal is to spend the rest of your life with this woman!
Make it a SURPRISE
The Sunriver team is adamant that this one is pivotal. But while “surprised” is good, “caught off guard” is not. Make sure she has an opportunity to look nice, take the time to size your ring in advance, and be sure to line up a way to capture the moment – a clandestine photographer, videographer, or good friend with an iphone will do the trick!
